Kelly Kennedy-Rysavy, a native of North Carolina
now resides in Tallahassee and St. George Island, Florida. Being
primarily a selftaught artist, she feels her real growth developed
with the decision to make art a fulltime commitment 9 years ago.
Her work is held throughout the United States in many private
collections as well as resort hotels in Costa Rico and the Bahamas.
Kelly draws inspiration from the paintings of the renaissance
period. The subtle layering of rich earthy colors and the delicate
play of light against form create a velvety texture that breathes
life into the canvas. The unique texturing on the canvas creates
an ornate tapestry where the viewer is compelled to reach into
the surface and touch the figures to discover that they lay behind
the delicate mist which veils the subject be it figurative or
landscape.
"Viewer's should enjoy art without having to ask what is
or is not acceptable. It should be above all a pleasurable, yet
dramatically emotional experience. I want to create an environment
with the canvas where the viewer can feel comfortable yet intimately
drawn into my world. Each piece carries with it it's own message.
It could be the beginning of a fantasy, a meditation on form,
light or color. The mystery is what creates the excitement. I
want to capture the soul of the viewer so that they feel as though
they were with me when I created the piece. I want to let them
into my world for one moment, however brief it may be."
