"My art is a reflection of my life experiences. I spend
a great deal of time boating, fishing and exploring nature because
these things provide a source of deep satisfaction to me. When
I am playing, I gather ideas for my work. When I work, I create
a need for more outdoor activity. One feeds the other. I create
paintings to convey the profound feelings I have for nature,
especially things On the Water's Edge."
TECHNIQUE
A balance between looseness and control gives Klaus' work vibrancy,
while depicting authentic realism. These qualities have become
his trademark. His technique has been described as subtle tonal
gradation, delicate line work, and transparent washes that allow
the white of the paper to serve as the light.
FLORIDA COAST
After receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art and Advertising
Design from the University of Alabama, Klaus joined various
aerospace companies as a Graphic Designer, a career he maintained
for over twenty-five years. A move to Stuart, Florida, with
its abundance of natural coastal beauty, provided ideal subjects
for his work. In 1993, he left the industry to become a full-time
fine artist. He has been working with new-found energy and enthusiasm
ever since.
